Buona Sera from outside Basilica Maria Maggiore
Today....a tour of basilica's. St. Paul outside the wall where the apostle Paul was born, St. Pietro in Vincoli where the shackles that held Peter are, and Santa Maria Maggiore where part of the manger Jesus was laid in resides. The Italians definitely have the living word here.
Pete might just remember he wanted to buy a straw hat or a pencil sharpener that looked like a catapult.
Happy birthday Dee!

Buona sera from Roma
A great day!! We got here, checked in to our beautiful apartment after an early morning visit to the Pantheon( almost by ourselves). Then walked to piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori and Trastevere to see Bramante's Tempietto which was actually the first "high renaissance" structure built, the model for St. Peters Basilica and built on the spot where Peter was crucified. Then dinner back in our great neighborhood. A magical day.

Audrey's confirmation
We are so proud of our newest Confirmand, Audrey Warrington. What a wonderful morning to see her accept her Christian responsibilities and accept Jesus as her Savior as a grown person making her own decisions. Confirmation is a big responsibility in our church and a lot of work. Kelly and I were honored to be asked to be her sponsors and blessed by her whole family today.

Spring Fever 2012
That's right!! For the 3rd year in a row...
3 generations crossing the 10K finish line today!
I am SO PROUD of all of us. Lots of fun.
What a wonderful world! Pete as Louis Armstrong.
Interesting facts: Louis Armstrong was born on July 4th, 1900. When he was 12 years old, on New Year's Eve, he fired a pistol into the air and was arrested and sent to the Waifs' Boys Home. That is where he learned to play the bugle and later the coronet. After he was released, he played in a riverboat quartet and traveled to Chicago where he became famous. When he died in 1971, his ex-wife was playing the piano at his funeral when she collapsed and died on the keyboard.
I am learning lots more from school the second time around.
PS. Among the other biographies: Neil Armstrong, Helen Keller, Pocohontas, Jim Henson, Walt Disney, Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Milton Hershey, Thomas Edison, Dale Earnhardt, Sacagawea. Can you spot any of them?

Dodgers win 7-2
We are seeing some great baseball! Double plays, Pete chasing a guy to tag him out on third, catchers that can catch foul balls behind the plate.....exciting stuff. I can't imagine that the Majors have anything on Fairhope youth Baseball.
Next game Friday, March 16 at 5:30pm -- Volanta Park Minor Field
